Local Clergy Join the Protest - All Kneel in Prayer on Main Street

12 members of the clergy, Christian and Jewish, joined in last night - then cops, clergy, and protesters all knelt in prayer  at the intersection of Main Street and Midland :)

Amen!

THIS is where I see Christ in the situation - you just have to look in the right places ;)

Night #5 - and still no riots, no looting, no fires, no national guard, no shooting, no tear gas, no rubber bullets, and only 2 arrests here.

That is because the police response of kneeling, hugging, walking with, and praying with the protesters has made all the difference, here :)

All under the direction of LFUCG Police Chief (and Mark's former coworker and friend), Lawrence Weathers ...

Keep going, Lexington, you're doing great - so proud of you!!!

Once again, lyrics written by my Episcopal Christian sister, Julia Ward Howe ...

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored

He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on!

Glory, glory, Hallelujah! Glory, glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, glory, Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on
Hallelujah, Hallelujah!

In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me
As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free
While God is marching on!

Glory, glory, Hallelujah! Glory, glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, glory, Hallelujah! His truth is marching on!
His truth is marching on! And on and on and on and on and on

PS - For anyone interested in the back-story behind Julia Ward Howe, here is the story told by her great-great-great grandson, Charles Wiggins Putnam ....

In this excerpt from "The King's Ministry Series:  The Way of the Stars" Written in 1916 (which I'm now reading)  ...

Julia describes in her own words how and why she wrote the song:
