Sympathy for A Devil: Mitch McConnell

Okay, so everyone knows I'm no fan of Mitch McConnell, I've railed against him for years as the behind-the-scenes puppetmaster, for a multitude of reasons I won't rehash, but if you aren't a fan of him nationally or internationally, you'd be even less of one if you lived here in Kentucky.

HOWEVER - when I watch this painful video, all I feel is compassion -  super sad :(

Interestingly, we're hearing calls for him to resign by people in his own party - but compassion isn't exactly a Republican strong suit, even with their own - and no one should be surprised the charge is being led by people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who clearly had her compassion surgically removed long ago.

I think he should've resigned years ago, for different reasons, but at this point, I think we need more information before we push for that - meaning I think we need more information than "He's fine, cleared by a doctor."

I mean, this is twice now - just tell us what it is so we, the voters, can determine that?

As for what it is, I'm not a doctor, I've just typed this sh*t for 30 years.  Sometimes people will go "Hey, I have this rash ..." and I'm like "Okay, I know about enough to know you should see a doctor lol.  I hear the presentation described, but I don't actually see it."

Same is true here - but if I had to make a wild guess, I'd say it's related to his fall and head injury, it looks a bit like an absence seizure?

Though they usually affect people under age 20, they can appear after a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and last for months or even years.

That also makes the most sense as to why the doctor would clear him.

If that is the case, then perhaps he should just tell people that and that it will improve over time.

When my husband had a stroke, we let everyone know so no one would be surprised if he got his words turned around while speaking or writing and that this would improve over time, but there may be momentary residuals.

So just let us know, right?

Otherwise, give the man his dignity, folks - it's hard to give up something you've done for 40 years -  even if it was mostly self-serving and corrupt lol.

People say it's karma - maybe, but I don't think so.  The rain falls on the just and the unjust.

Karma is more like going to jail as consequence for what you did, not injury or illness, IMO. Nobody deserves that, plus they rarely rethink what they did due to illness or injury.

So yes, he's an a-hole on a grand scale - but he's also a human being - an aging one.

As such, I now think of him like a patient - he's a patient first, then a corrupt politician lol.

I'm a liberal Democrat, mind you - and I say let him leave with whatever credibility and dignity he has left, there are worse devils (cough, cough, Trump) - let's see if he offers more information and at least maybe let him finish out his term?

The only thing that residually irks me is how many times he voted against a national health care system to properly take care of people who experience things like this, which he could always clearly afford :/
