"Natchez" (Formerly Named "The Myth of Southern Charm" )

 

You may recall that in May, I wrote this post on this documentary by Suzannah Herbert, originally  airing on PBS. At that time, it was called "The Myth of Southern Charm." 

That post has become the 3rd most hit post of all time already - behind my post on the Martha Stewart Documentary from 2024 at #2 (receiving 1,984 hits) and #1, the original police body cam footage from the Watts Home.

Why those posts and why me, scribbling over here in the corner without ads or monetizing, I have no idea -  but I hope you all enjoyed them? 😅

(Dang, I should've monetized, at least for those 3 posts if nothing else? 😂 )

The film was renamed to "Natchez" with added footage, moved to the big screen, and went on to win "Best Documentary" at the Tribeca Film Festival and one of the top 5 documentaries of 2025 by the National Review - and after being purchased by Oscilloscope films, unfortunately you can no longer see it for free.

And yet definitely still worth it!

PS - For context on my #1 post of all time, the Watts Home Body Cam Footage at #1, it is popular among the paranormal set, because it's the full, unaltered police body cam footage of the Watts home investigation. 

As you may recall, in 2018, Chris Watts killed his wife and children, but at the point of policy entry, they only knew they were missing; thus, they cleared the home and sent in just the dog, his handler, and the videographer. 

TBH, I don't see or hear what others claim to see and hear - EXCEPT - the search dog suddenly wagging his tail, then making a beeline to the closet as if he sees somebody, and then the handler (and we, the viewers), heard a distinct giggle, you can't miss it. I admit, that was super weird.  

I thought it was a toy losing batter power and going off, but they do check that closet later for any sort of battery-powered toy that could make that noise to no avail. 

Regardless, with how easy it is to fake paranormal videos, the fact that police cleared the home just before this unaltered police body cam video makes it one of the top 5 potentially legit "ghostie" videos out there, if you believe in that sort of thing.

If not, at the very least, file that one into "unexplained."
