DOJ Moves to Dismiss Charges In Breonna Taylor Killing ...

... we stayed in Louisville for a weekend last May. Though the city has largely erased what happened, you can still see a few little artistic signs for Breonna everywhere.

Trump's DOJ has just filed a motion to dismiss the remainingcharges (and like overturn the charges that already resulted in convictions).

For those who don't know the story - though it made national news and sparked national protests - on March 13, 2020, LMPD obtained a "no knock" search warrant under false pretenses, entered Breonna's apartment looking for her exboyfriend, then for what reason we don't know, shot recklessly at her current boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, and then Breonna, as she lay in her bed, killing her instantly. The bullets also entered neighbor apartments through the walls.

Both Walker and Taylor were unarmed.

Though Kenneth Walker had a gun in his possession, he did not draw it, nor did he even have it on his person or near him.

How do I know that last part?

Though that part is still being debated publicly, as the officers have given conflicting accounts as to whether he was or wasn't - my former neighbor is first cousins with Kenneth Walker.

Kenneth stated that although he did have a gun in the apartment, he didn't have time to get it -  they had been in bed asleep when the officers charged in without knocking -  a story supported by the fact that Breonna was found dead while lying in bed.

Breonna was an EMT for the city and had broken up with her ex that they were looking for, due to his drug-dealing activities and possible DV, several months prior.

Her current boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, survived the incident.

The officers were charged with felonies including excessive force, reckless endangerment and originally manslaughter, but the charges were later reduced to misdemeanors. They were convicted for 2 of the crimes with prison time by the last DOJ under Merrick Garland, with the remaining charges of unlawfully obtaining a search warrant under false pretenses still being prosecuted.

It is these last charges the DOJ wants removed, and likely, erasing the other charges as if they never happened, freeing the incarcerated officers.

These officers had the wrong information, obtained a "no-knock" search warrant under consciously false pretenses, and shot 2 unarmed people, one while she lay in her bed - they deserve the consequences for doing so.

The DOJ says they are doing so "in the interest of justice," but it's exactly the opposite - it's undoing justice over political corruption.

Worse, it's racism - because you know very well if this had happened to white people, we wouldn't be here.

It's especially heinous to pull this stunt on the 6th anniversary of her death to pull this stunt, adding insult to injury to the family. And extra slap in their faces.

Trump and the DOJ should be ashamed - but then they've already proven they have no shame.
