So ... anyone who rebrands their federal military department from "The Department of Defense" to "The Department of War" should be automatically excluded from the Nobel Peace Prize - sorry.
Also, bullying people into silence is NOT peace-making.
But I digress (ahem).
Otherwise, it has been doctor-appointment week for Mark and me, thus the lack of posting.
All is well, just our yearly stuff.
I was able to get the COVID booster.
(FYI, the FDA label just says "underlying health condition." It doesn't specify 😉)
So while coming home from one of these appointments, yesterday, we saw a Great Blue Heron, wading in a pond.
(I don't have a picture from yesterday, so I used a previous one - pardon the fuzzy, it was my old phone.)
If you've never seen one, they are very regal and magnificent - you feel like you're in the presence of something divine.
When we see one, Mark believes it's a good omen, both because his original Polish surname was "Czapla," which means "heron," and because some Native American tribes believe seeing a heron is a good omen/good luck/good fortune (particularly if flying, and especially if a heron flies over you).
Mark: "What did you find out your actual maternal Polish name was and meant from the big DNA reveal?"
Me: "Glodek. Yeah, so we don't have a totem, it just means "hungry." At least nothing cool like a heron. I dunno, maybe a Polish sausage or something?" 😂
Mark: "Hungry? What does that mean, like they were cannibals or something?"
Me: "Haha! Yeah, that's what it means, Mark, they were cannibals. No, though I wouldn't put it past a couple of people in my family, I guess it just means they were poor and hungry all the time?
Mark: "HA-ha, your family were cannibals, nah nah, ptttthbbbt."
Me: "I wouldn't laugh too much, if I were you ... because maybe they were only hungry for ... CZAPLAS (herons)! Mwahahaha!"
😂😂😂
Yeah, I know - twisted sense of humor, both of us 😂
